To start a chain reaction all you have to do is get started. Go, don't wait.
In life sometimes we make the things that make the biggest difference too complicated.
We often treat compassion like prayer or the reading the Bible. They are all things we know are good and right, but we just aren't able to make time or focus on them enough to be a priority. Prayer and reading the Bible are things that help us, they cause us to grow closer to God and all that He has for us. Compassion is what will demonstrate the love and faith that we profess to a lost world. These three things are the cornerstones of our faith. Without them what kind of a life are we building and why do we think it will last?

It Starts With You
Starting Chain Reaction is about doing something for others that they can not or will not do for themselves. It is not for any other reason other than to help them.
So look around you. What can you do for someone else?

At home, what can you do to help your parents?
What could you do to help your brother or sister?

At School, what can you do to help your teachers?
What could you do to help that kid that no one else pays attention to?

Do you work at a job?
What would happen if you did a great job and helped someone else get their job done?

Got Friends?
What will others think? What if you got one or two of your friends together and figured out a way to do something cool in your neighborhood? Look at things and ways to help people where most people wouldn't. For example, I know some kids who spent half of a day pumping gas and washing windows as people pulled into a gas station. Through out the day people gave them tips. They collected those tips looking for a chance to give it away. A young lady pulled up in a beat up car with three kids. It was obvious that she had a lot of need. These kids didn't even hesitate, they filled her gas tanked and washed her windows. Then they went inside and paid for the gas out of the tips they had been collecting. What do you think others thought about that?

Your Youth Group or Bible Club
Really do something to get others involved. Do you have a youth group or Bible Club that you are a part of? What if once in a while you got your group to think of cool ways you could do something for someone else.

These groups are great to get together and have friends and positive alternatives for you. What if you turned the focus around. Talk to your leaders, bring up the issue of compassion and the possibilities of making a difference in your community. Then, as a group get a plan to go out and help. We have seen kids go to grocery stores and help people carry their stuff for them. We have seen kids go to nursing homes and hang out with the residents and talk. Yeah, just talk. It so excited and blessed those seniors, because they think they have been forgotten. The encouragement that came from those kids being there still is being talked about today, and has opened the door for the truth.

Get It Started!
Go for it. Sit down, get out a piece of paper and dream. Creatively think of the greatest, biggest and coolest things you can do that would really help others. Then pray and ask God how you can do it. Talk with your friends and leaders and get their ideas. Spread the excitement and get as many involved as possible. That is what Chain Reaction is all about!
